Spades Strategy: Finessing with AKJ

The last finesse we'll cover in detail is the AKJ.

Finessing Queens is often a dangerous desperation play, but you should know how it is done.

On the first lead of the suit, it is safe to win the A or K since it doesn't cost us anything and gathers a bit of information.

There is a chance the Q drops from West on the first lead. We also gain the lead to shift suits and hope West leads the suit for us.

There is also a chance that East shows the Q on the second lead of the suit, but we aren't so lucky.

With no other information, we make an attempt to finesse East for the Q on the second heart lead.

And should it fail, hope our heart winner is good for the third round of the suit.
